Talk/ Discussion event: on 9 June,"Land and of Milk & Honey or Valley of Desolation? – Challenges for Christians in the Holy Land today" by Tom Dunne, in the church hall.

May 2010   Skittles Evening: Sat 15th May, in the Hadley Arms Pub, Combe Down.
April 2010   Parish Annual General Meeting: Sun 25th April, in the Parish Hall at 4pm. All welcome, please come and make your views known on the parish.
    Talk/ Discussion event: Wed 21 April, "Render Unto Caesar": led by Giles Mercer, in the church hall, in which he considers the positions of Church and State, particularly in the context of the forthcoming General Election. new!The full text of the talk is available here (PDF).
    Parish Walk (Ramble): Sun 18th April, leaving Cats & Dogs Home and walking towards Sham Castle. All were welcome and enjoyed a great walk! See map link here.
March 2010 Lenten Coffee Morning & Lunch, on Fri 19 Mar, in the Parish Hall, supported Faith & Light's work in Africa & Russia.
   

The very popular Lenten Weekly reflections by Fr Peter, on “Faith Seeking Understanding" were attended by over 70 people each week. new!The full text of the talks is now available here (PDF).  

   

Talk/ Discussion event: on 2 Mar, "Globalisation" by Peter Jenkins and Tina Chang; Discussion followed from the previous session on the environment...

February 2010   Mass with Anointing, with tea and coffee after, on Thu 11 Feb, 2.30pm in St Johns, on the day of our Lady of Lourdes.
   

Visit of Bishop Declan Lang to the parish, over the weekend of 13-14 Feb. The bishop celebrated at all 3 Sunday masses, and met parishioners over tea and coffee, and then the PPC members, after the 10am Sunday Mass.

    Quiz Night - returns! with refreshments. Fri 12 Feb, 7.30pm in the Parish Hall. Teams of 6, £3.50 each. Contact Christine 422922 or Michael 444251
January 2010   Talk/ Discussion event: Tues 19 Jan, "The Environment – a Christian Challenge": led by Mary Colwell, Producer of the BBC Natural History Unit, in the church hall. new!A review of the talk is here...
December 2009   Parish Christmas Coffee Morning & Fayre, on Friday 4 Dec, and some additional sales over the weekend in the church hall.
November 2009  

Talk/ Discussion event: on Mon 23 Nov, "The Christian Faith and Human Development", by Professor Tina Beattie. Discussion included the recent papal encyclical Caritas in Veritate, disparities in wealth, short-term economy, attacks on social security systems ... etc.

    The Parish Barn Dance / Ceilidh on 13 November @ St.John's School was attended by over 70 people, young, old and inbetween. It was a great evening of music, dance and socialbility. Don't miss the next one! Photos here shortly...
October 2009   Car Boot & Table Sale - Sat, 3 Oct @ St.John's Church. A good clear out of unwanted belongings.
September 2009   Talk/ Discussion event: Tues 29 Sept, "Christian Faith in the 21st Century: 'Is One Religion as Good as Another?'" by Prof. Gavin D'Costa, University of Bristol.
    The last Summer Concert at St John's, Sun 27 Sept - "The Legend of Finn McCool", narrator Aidan Phippard, with Maggio String Quartet: Irish airs & lively jigs, plus a cream tea. Info here...
    Talk/ Discussion event: Tues 22 Sept, "The Holy Spirit: Who on Earth is She?' by Dom Edmund ffield, O.S.B. Monk of Ampleforth.
